A Rare Find - For sale 49 star flag

The stars and stripes that make up the national flag of the United States is probably the most well known flag in the world.

But the US flag went through a number of iterations before it reached its final form that we see it as it is today. Since the stars in the flag represent the different states, there were much less stars in the earlier versions of the flag.

And as the different states were included in the nation, the number of stars grew correspondingly. Before Hawaii was included as the 50th state of the United States, the flag had only 49 stars. You can find for sale 49 star flag in different outlets.

This was the first time that a piece of land not physically joined to the continental United States became part of the nation. Another star was added to the US Flag in 1959 to represent the addition of the state of Alaska.

This was the 26th flag of the nation. The new flag was raised one minute past midnight on the 4th of July 1959 over Ft. McHenry. This official marked the admittance of Alaska as one of the states of the Union.

The 49-star flag however lasted only for a year.
