Facts and History of Puerto Rico Flag

Representing the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico: Facts and History of Puerto Rico Flag

Puerto Rico Island is known for its captivating beauty and the many fights the people had for gaining independence.

The current national emblem of the island was adopted back in 1868 as the “Revolutionary Flag of Lares” for showing independence to Spain.

However, facts and history of Puerto Rico flag indicate a longer battle for autonomy: the Spanish leadership banned the use of the flag and imposed the Spanish symbols.

1952, the flag was brought again to the initial form having a similar design to Cuba’s with five red and white stripes and a blue triangular shape with a white five-pointed star in the middle.
