The states of Africa have all impressive history regarding their desire and fights for independence.
Being initially a French colony, Niger’s flag was adopted one year before the state’s declared independence to France.
Facts and history of Niger flag show that it was designed back in 1958, a year before it was adopted and has different interpretations regarding its symbolism: while there is no official statement regarding the flag’s meaning, there are two popular interpretations of its colours: being formed out of three equally sized colour stripes horizontally arranged, (orange, white and green with an orange circle on the white band), it is believed that orange could represent the desert of Sahara/Sahel, the white band could stand for peace, but at the same time for the river Niger, green represents the fertile regions of the country, and finally, the orange circle represents the liberating sun of independence.
