Design’s evolution: Facts and History of New Zeeland flag



The first flag that New Zeeland had as national symbol was adopted 1834 by the local Maori chiefs and had a special design of the Saint George’s Cross combined with another cross design having New Zeeland’s four stars symbol in the blue field.

What the facts and history of New Zeeland flag relate future on about the evolution of the current national symbol is that the initial flag was replaced with the recent one when the island became a British colony.

The flag has the famous British Blue ensign for showing New Zeeland’s loyalty to Great Britain and the representation of the Southern Stars having different sizes.
