One of the reasons why the flag of Nepal is very popular throughout the world is because of its unusual double pennant shape.

The facts and history of Nepal flag show that this country had this flag for more than 2000 years, the design having Hindu origins. The red colour stands as the symbol for the national Nepal rhododendron flower.

In the middle of the double pennant are the sun and the moon pictured that stand for the hope of the Nepalese people that their country will last as long the sun and moon will be. The blue border inspires peace and hope for the two religions from Nepal: Hinduism and Buddhism.
