Traditionalism and Nobility: Facts and History of Monaco Flag
Having a relatively simple design with two red and white horizontal colour stripes, the Monaco Flag was adopted at the end of the 19th century and was the old symbol of the House of Grimaldi since the 14th century.
The national flag of Monaco suffered only very few changes throughout the history. The only facts and history of Monaco flag remembered are when the old national coat of arms were used as the state flag and the use of the French flag during the time Monaco was annexed to France.
Back in the 17th century, there are few royal pictures that indicate the use of a different flag, but it is believed that it was only an unofficial flag liked in that period.
